1. DS1 (SONET Framing, STS1)

There are three STS1 paths per OC3. The following examples use sts1-1.

There are two ways to configure a DS1 channel on a SONET framed port (see Figure: OC3 Channelization using SONET and SDH, SONET framing branch):

• 1.1 STS1 with channelized DS3 payload

• 1.2 STS1 with VT1.5 payload
