Within a specific redundancy domain, each node has a designated role and operation role:
Designated roles are user-configured and designated as active (DA) or designated standby (DS).
Operational roles are decided by election protocol during runtime and designated as operational active (OA) or operational standby (OS).
The user can configure each node in the domain as either DA or DS. Any combination of DA:DS is allowed; however only one node is elected as OA, other nodes are OS. A designated role may be elected as operational standby and a designated standby may be elected as operational active.
