RIPv2 packet format

The RIP packet format is displayed in Figure: RIPv2 packet format.

The RIPv2 packets include the following fields:

• Subnet Mask

  The subnet mask for the entry. If this field is zero, no subnet mask has been specified for the entry.

• Nexthop

  The IP address of the next hop to forward packets.
