Appendix: 7210 SAS boot procedures

This chapter describes the booting procedures for 7210 SAS devices.

This chapter provides information about booting a factory-shipped 7210 SAS device for the first time. It also includes information to boot the 7210 SAS device after subsequent reboots that are initiated by issuing the admin reboot command. For subsequent reboots, the BOF and the TiMOS image are stored on the local flash.

The 7210 SAS supports two modes for a first-time boot of a factory-shipped node or to boot the node after the admin>reboot auto-init command is executed. The supported boot modes are:

Procedure to boot using auto-init mode

This procedure uses the auto-init mode to boot the 7210 SAS device.

Procedures to boot using manual mode

This procedure uses the manual mode to boot the 7210 SAS device. In manual mode, the device can be booted from the local flash or it can be booted from the network using an uplink port or the OOB Ethernet management port. The following procedures apply:

Procedure to boot when the BOF is present locally

This procedure uses the BOF that is present locally to boot the 7210 SAS device.

Procedure to boot in the satellite mode

This procedure boots the 7210 SAS device in the satellite mode.

Procedure to boot in the standalone-VC mode

This procedure boots the 7210 SAS device in the standalone-VC mode.
